Hey, y’all!
My wife and I spent last weekend doing absolutely nothing productive, and honestly, it was glorious.
But this weekend's got enough going on that we're actually making plans, which for us in February is saying something.
The RV Show at the Cobb Galleria caught my eye, not because we're buying anything, but because walking through 150 rigs and pretending we're the kind of people who own a fifth wheel is a free date that beats scrolling Zillow on the couch.
It runs through Sunday, and admission is free. Hard to beat that.
Friday night's stacked if you're looking for a real night out: the Tina Turner tribute at The Strand is supposed to be high-energy, and First Friday Art Walk is always an easy, no-reservation-needed evening on the Square.
Jimmy O. Yang (loved him in Silicon Valley) is at Cobb Energy tonight if you want to knock out a comedy show midweek.
The Seasonal Tip this week is all about getting your tax stuff together before April sneaks up, which I realize isn't glamorous, but future-you will be grateful.
Planner's below. Pick one thing, go do it, and call it a win.
See you out there.
- Andrew

Tax season has a funny way of making you look at all your finances, and your insurance is worth a second look too.
February is one of the best times to review your coverage because you're already in "paperwork mode" and nothing is actively on fire (literally or figuratively).
A lot changes in a year.
Maybe you refinanced, added a car, finished a renovation, or your teen started driving.
Any of those can shift what you actually need (and what you're overpaying for).
Peachy Insurance is an Atlanta-based company built to move quickly and keep things simple: fast quoting, clear explanations, and licensed professionals who'll help check your coverage without the runaround.
A few things Peachy can help you review in 10–15 minutes:
Home: dwelling limit vs. current value, liability coverage, and whether recent upgrades (kitchen, deck, finished basement) are reflected in your policy
Auto: mileage updates, teen driver discounts, comprehensive vs. collision, and rental/roadside coverage you might be missing. Or paying for and not using
Bundle check: whether pairing home + auto saves you money for your situation (no pressure — just clear options)

🚐 The Ultimate RV Show
Cobb Convention Center
2 Galleria Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30339
Thursday-Saturday, Feb 5-7 from 10AM-8PM
Sunday, Feb 8 from 10AM-4PM
Cost: Free admission
Details: Event info
If your family has been daydreaming about road trips, camping weekends, or just "what would it be like to own an RV?" this is an easy, low-pressure way to explore it all under one roof.
The Ultimate RV Show brings more than 150 fully staged RVs to the Cobb Convention Center, from compact campers and travel trailers to fifth wheels, toy haulers, and big Class A motorhomes.
Walk through different floorplans, compare options side-by-side, and chat with reps about towing, storage, and budget without driving from dealership to dealership.
What to expect
Giant showroom energy: rows and rows of RVs you can actually walk through and explore.
Kid-friendly by default: it's basically a maze of "tiny houses" to climb in and out of. They'll love it.
Zero sales pressure: admission is free, so it's a great "just browsing" outing if you're not ready to buy but want ideas for a future season.
Know before you go
Plan for 1-2 hours minimum. There's a lot of ground to cover.
Wear comfy shoes. You'll be on your feet.
Snap photos of your favorites and jot down model names so you can compare later.
Sunday closes earlier (4pm) if you're planning a last-minute visit.

🏈 Sidelines Grille
If you need a spot where the adults can watch the game and the kids can just be kids, Sidelines Grille is an easy choice.
It's the kind of place that works for "no one wants to cook" nights, post-practice team dinners, or casual birthday gatherings where everyone just wants hot food fast.
What to expect
Wall-to-wall screens: TVs everywhere, including at some booths, so you're not squinting at one far-off game while juggling nuggets and crayons.
Something for everyone: wings, smashburgers, wraps, Tex-Mex for the adults. Kids Burger and Kids Fingers for the little ones.
Bright, casual vibe: it's loud enough that your toddler's meltdown won't turn heads, but not so chaotic you can't hear each other.
Weekly events like Music Trivia (“Sound Check”)
Know before you go
Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Come hungry.
Service holds up even on busy game-day evenings.
Great for groups: teams, extended family, last-minute "let's all meet up" plans.
If you're celebrating something low-key (end of season, kid's birthday), they can handle it without a fuss.

✂️ Pigtails & Crewcuts: Marietta - East Cobb

Turn "just a trim" into a quick confidence boost before photos, holidays, or special events.
The staff is used to first-haircut jitters and will take things at your child's pace, which is a lifesaver for toddlers and sensory-sensitive kids.
Know before you go
Book ahead through their website or app to skip the wait.
Easy errand to pair with a Merchant's Walk or Lower Roswell lunch stop when you want to squeeze in something practical that still feels like a treat.

🐾 Aslan
Aslan is a fluffy orange gentleman who came to Good Mews from a local shelter and has put in the work to bounce back from a rough start.
He is curious and affectionate and loves being petted and hanging out near "his" person, but he can get a bit overstimulated, so he will do best with an adopter who can read his body language and give him space when he asks for it.
Aslan has high blood pressure and is on medication, and he is also FIV positive, but FIV cats can live long, healthy lives and can safely live with non FIV cats as long as everyone gets along.
He is the kind of cat who will be a loyal, loving companion for someone patient who is looking for a true best friend and is ready to give him the forever home he has been waiting for.

🌳 Terrell Mill Park
480 Terrell Mill Rd, Marietta

Source: Ricky Carson on Google
If your weekend energy is more “we should get out of the house” than “let’s plan a whole production,” Terrell Mill Park is a perfect low-pressure win.
It’s a big, easy East Cobb park with walking trails, a playground, picnic pavilions, and restrooms.
The kind of place where kids can move, adults can breathe, and nobody has to spend money to feel like they did something.

Source: Chris Harp on Google
Morning strategy (best for calm vibes):
Go earlier in the day, park close to the playground, and start with a slow lap on the walking trail to warm up (bonus points if you bring coffee).
Then let the kids burn off the wiggles at the playground while you sit in the “I can actually see them” zone.

Source: Deepa Reeves on Google
Afternoon plan (when you need an easy “hang”):
Turn it into a picnic-and-play stop. Bring snacks, a soccer ball, or scooters, and just let the park do the heavy lifting.
If there are games happening, it’s also weirdly relaxing to watch a few minutes of tennis or youth sports with zero commitment.

Source: Vivek Asthana on Google
Hidden features:
Tennis center + big sports fields (it’s one of those parks that always has something going on).
Picnic pavilions that make it feel like a “real outing,” even if you’re only there for 45 minutes.

Source: Ramakrishna Mareedu on Google
Parking & bathrooms:
Parking is free and straightforward. Restrooms are on-site (always a key detail when you’re rolling with kids).

Tax season is officially here, and if your "filing system" is still a junk drawer, a shoebox, or a vague promise to deal with it later, this is the week to spend ten minutes getting ahead of the stress.
📋 The 10-minute tax prep reset
1) Round up your documents before they scatter
W-2s and 1099s should be arriving (or already have). Check your mail and your email, since many come digitally now.
Gather mortgage interest statements (1098), childcare receipts, and medical expense summaries in one folder, physical or digital.
If you freelanced, sold anything online, or earned side income in 2025, pull those records together now before you forget.
2) Check last year's return for easy wins
Open last year's return and look at what you claimed. It is the fastest way to jog your memory on deductions you might miss this time around.
If your life changed in 2025 (new baby, new home, job change, childcare costs), flag those items now so your preparer or software catches them.
3) Pick your method and book early
If you use a CPA or tax preparer, book your appointment now. Wait lists fill fast, and early filers tend to get refunds sooner.
If you DIY, make sure your software login still works and update your payment info before the rush. Helpful resource: IRS Free File options
Set a calendar reminder for April 15 so the deadline does not sneak up on you.
🏢 Local pros who can help
If "doing it yourself" sounds like a recipe for a stress headache, these East Cobb firms handle individual and family returns and are already booking for this season:

Learn moreMoore CPA Firm

Get started
The biggest tax season mistake is not complicated math or missed deductions.
It is procrastination. Ten minutes of sorting now saves hours of panic in April, and if you are owed a refund, filing earlier means that money hits your account sooner.
